Bookkeeping / Payroll Clerk

General Description: The Bookkeeping/Payroll Clerk performs various bookkeeping and payroll tasks of a clerical nature and reports to the KUSP General Manager. This person works closely with the station’s Accountant (on site approximately two days per week), the Director of Individual Giving, and Foundation and Business Support personnel. This is a part-time position without benefits; the normal work schedule is 20 hour per week, with additional hours possible during fundraising campaigns.  The wage rate is $17.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare payroll, including payroll tax and employee benefit administration.
  • Perform accounts payable data entry and record keeping/filing.
  • Generate bills for underwriting patrons; maintain cash and trade underwriting records; and apply payments for underwriting.
  • Collaborate with contract accountant in maintaining general ledger, banking records, filing and periodic reporting.
  • Oversee station office supplies and other consumables, including ordering and distribution, following approved procedures.
  • Perform cashiering and related functions during special fundraising events.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A combination of experience and secondary/post-secondary education that enables the employee to perform the responsibilities listed.
  • At least one year of successful bookkeeping experience at the account clerk level.
  • Experience using QuickBooks Pro payroll system and on-line payroll tax administration; QuickBooks Pro accounting software (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable); credit card processing/merchant account management software for PCs;  Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.); and tools from appropriate government agencies (IRS, FTB, EDD, etc.).
  • Experience using the Allegiance Software Corporate Support system (a specialized relational database system for underwriting billing and accounts receivable) is a plus.
  • Dependability, responsiveness, positive attitude and attention to detail.

Member Services Assistant

General Description:  The Member Services Assistant, as a member of the Development Team, assists in implementing the day-to-day operations of the membership program and reports to KUSP’s Director of Individual Giving. This is a part-time position without benefits; the normal work schedule is 20 hours per week, increasing to as much as 40 hours a week during fundraising campaigns (2-3 times per year). The wage rate is $17.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in the donor database.
  • Process payments for membership accounts.
  • Produce billing statements and donor thank-you letters.
  • Coordinate direct mail solicitations produced in house and through our direct mail contractor.
  • Assist the Development Team in all aspects of fundraising, including pledge drives, mail campaigns, and special events.
  • Provide customer service for KUSP contributors, including updating credit card account information, ensuring thank-you gift fulfillment, and similar tasks.
  • Assist with management of thank-you gift inventory and shipments.
  • Prepare Membership Department reports as needed and do filing.
  • Coordinate and schedule volunteers for station events and fundraising activities.
  • Complete other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of personal computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Certification of applicant’s keyboard speed and accuracy is requested.
  • Experience working with databases. Allegiance Fundraising System experience is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of the Development Team.
  • Ability to interact well with members, staff, volunteers and board of directors.
  • Dependability, responsiveness, positive attitude and attention to detail.
