Veggielution Redefines Community Gardening in Downtown San Jose
Podcast: |
By Sean Rameswaram
Demand for community garden plots far outweighs supply in the city of San Jose, but at Veggielution everyone pitches in and walks away with some produce. The community farm near the intersection of Highways 680 and 101 in downtown San Jose is a bit different from most community gardens. Rather than assign plots to individuals, the farm produces food through the combined efforts of all participants.
Veggielution volunteers help the community farm ready for another season in downtown San Jose. Turnout is always best on Saturdays, when the program’s volunteer coordinators help manage dozens of eager farmhands. All participants walk away well-fed and with plenty of produce.
